What do I do if someone falsely accuses me of using AI?

Stay calm and answer with evidence. Ask exactly what the accusation is based on, then gather your drafts, version history, notes, sources and original files. Offer to explain your work in person. Research shows AI detectors can wrongly flag human writing, so a single detector score should never settle the question.

Share the research, calmly

A Stanford study found that seven AI-writing detectors classified 61.22% of essays by non-native English speakers as AI-generated, while scoring essays by U.S.-born eighth-graders near-perfectly (Stanford HAI). The maker of a leading AI chatbot withdrew its own AI-writing classifier in 2023 because of its low accuracy (Quartz). Point to these facts to show that a score alone is not proof.

Show what you know

Offer to walk through your work in a meeting: explain your choices, answer questions about your sources, or write a short passage on the topic on the spot. Knowledge of your own work is strong evidence.

Protect your next piece of work

Keep version history switched on, save your originals, and establish a dated record of important work before you hand it in. A record made while your original file is untouched is worth far more than one attempted after a dispute starts.

How All Around REAL helps

All Around REAL is Your AI PI. The “Prove mine is REAL” lane is built for this moment. Submit your original file. You get an independent review by a separate party, with a case number, a timestamp, a fingerprint of the exact file, and a REAL Check that anyone you show it to can verify without taking your word for it. Orders are placed by adults; requests involving a student under 18 come through our professional lane.
